Before contacting us with general questions, please check our FAQ’s below for answers to our most common queries. If an answer to your query is not listed, we will be more than happy to answer.

  • Where are HighCube Homes made?
    • HighCube Homes are made in the UK on site, using UK Suppliers.
  • Where are HighCube Homes sited?
    • HighCube Homes are by commission only for build on our clients property or land. We do not supply land / plots, nor do we supply water, gas and electric to site. Our homes are designed to be connected to your existing services, although our off-grid upgrade options can provide your electricity and water needs.
  • Will I need planning permission for a HighCube Home?
    • Before commissioning any form of building work, you should always seek pre-planning advice from your local authority, as each area has different speculations and restrictions. We recommend applying for full planning permission for our buildings. HighCube Homes may be deemed as ‘Non-Permanent’ structures, and in many cases, permission may not be required. If you are in an AONB you will almost certainly require planning permission. If building on your existing property, a HighCube home may fall within your PD. We are able to seek pre-planning advice on your behalf for a fee.
  • How Much does a HighCube Home cost?
    • Our standard home model prices are shown on their own relevant pages. Alternative variants are possible and will fall within the ball-park figure of the original home,  although we do offer many upgrade options such as Off-Grid solutions as well as exterior and interior upgrades. For quotations outwith our standard models, these will only be quoted via our ‘Custom design’ option, which incurs an initial fee. Please see ‘Our Process’ for details.
  • What’s included in the price of a HighCube Home?
    • All of our homes are priced to include all fitted furniture as well as all of the materials required to finish the home to our standard specification. Prices include UK delivery of the containers and products to a prepared site and full on site conversion and build. The base price does not include ground works, as these are very site specific. We do not install mains Gas, Electricity, Water or Waste to site, but are able to extend and connect to services that are already on the site/plot. Alternatively, we can supply off-grid options for Electricity and water/waste.
  • What foundations are required for a HighCube Home?
    • The specific foundations required will depend on the actual site / plot. We do not require full slab or perimeter foundations, and usually ‘Pad & Column’ style footings are used on each corner of the container(s).
  • Where can I see a real home?
    • All of our homes are by private commission for private individuals / families, and as such are not available for public viewing. We are currently in the process of relocating the business with a view to building a H3 three bedroom show home for public viewing. Whilst we do not currently have an ETA on this, please watch this space for progress, where updates will be shared on the website and via our Social media when we are close to achieving this, as we need to clear planning permission before we are able to make a start.
  • Do HighCube Homes conform to Building Regulations?
    • All of our homes are fully compliant with UK building regulations.
  • How are HighCube Homes insulated?
    • All of our homes are insulated both externally and internally to provide the highest levels of insulation and resistance to condensation. We use PIR insulation boards such as Celotex, which provide higher insulation levels than other methods.
  • Is it possible to obtain financing for a HighCube Home?
    • The short answer is yes. Whilst you would not be able to finance a HighCube Home with a ‘standard’ mortgage, specialist lenders will supply financing options for a HighCube Home. We can put you in touch with our financial advisers who can help you achieve this. HighCube Homes do not offer any direct lending or financing services.
  • What is the Guarantee with a HighCube Home?
    • The guarantees on our homes are mostly specific to the individual supplier material guarantees, in conjunction with our own workmanship guarantees.
    • Containers: We use containers that are up to 10 years old, which are certified for a further 10 years of Sea-Worthiness, guaranteed as wind and watertight. Bear in mind that we then shroud the container with weatherproofing materials further protecting the containers from the elements.
    • Exterior cladding: We use ‘RainScreen’ weatherproof panelling or composite cladding as standard, which comes with a 10 year maintenance free warranty.
    • Roofing: EPDM rubberised roofing system. 20 Years warranty.
    • Interior furniture – 10 year warranty.
    • Workmanship: 10 Year warranty.
  • Can you help me to find and buy a plot of land?
    • We no longer offer a plot finding service. We recommend signing up to websites such as ‘PlotFinder’, ‘YourMove’, ‘RightMove’, ‘PurpleBricks’, ”Zoopla’, ‘PrimeLocation’, ‘OnTheMarket’ and local estate agents for the area you want to build. We do not get involved in the purchase or sale of land.
